Low Back Pain

You're not alone. It effects nearly every one of us in our active adult lives. More than 8 out of 10 of us will suffer from low back pain someday, nearly 1/3 of us at any given time. Low back pain interferes with daily activity...working, moving around and even sleeping. It is one of the most common problems affecting the public.

But even though it is very common...it's not normal. We can do something about it.

We allow back pain to occur by not exercising, sitting too much, being overweight, having poor posture and being under too much stress. The most common causes of low back pain are muscle, ligament, joint and disc injuries and improper function of spinal segments sometimes called fixations or subluxations.

Fortunately, low back pain can be relieved and the cause eliminated.by non-surgical chiropractic methods more than 9 times out of 10. Chiropractic doctors try to diagnose the cause of back pain specifically, and treat it actively without using drugs or surgery.

The first goal of you chiropractic doctor is to relieve the pain. Then the cause of the pain is corrected by restoring the normal function to spinal segments. The third goal is to strengthen and coordinate the back to prevent back pain from returning.

The most characteristic treatment used by a chiropractic doctor is the manipulation of the spine, sometimes called an adjustment. They are delicate, specific maneuvers which require a great deal of training and experience along with an understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. In addition, chiropractic doctors may use ultrasound, muscle stimulation, ice and massage. Specific exercises may be recommended along with vitamins and minerals to help speed healing.
